Megan-Claire Chase — Fighting to Be Believed After Diagnosis
✨ Episode Overview
In this episode of Who We Become — Life Beyond Change, Amanda sits down with Megan-Claire Chase, also known as Warrior Megsie, to explore survivorship, identity shifts, advocacy, infertility, mental health, and what it really means to live beyond cancer.
Together, they talk about the exhaustion of fighting to be believed for over two years before diagnosis, the trauma that lingers long after treatment ends, and the emotional weight of survivorship — including PTSD, rage, grief, and chronic pain.
Megan-Claire shares how writing became her lifeline, how representation in clinical trials can be life-saving, and why speaking openly about the “after” is just as important as surviving
This conversation is for anyone who feels unseen in their diagnosis, who is navigating life after treatment, or who is trying to reconcile who they were before cancer with who they are now.
👤 Meet Our Guest: Megan-Claire Chase (aka Warrior Megsie)
Megan-Claire Chase is a writer, speaker, health equity advocate, and breast cancer survivor diagnosed just months after her 39th birthday.
After years of unexplained symptoms and not being believed, she was diagnosed with Stage 2A invasive lobular breast cancer — a subtype with limited research and even less representation for Black women.
Her survivorship journey includes chronic pain, infertility after surgical menopause, PTSD, depression, and ongoing advocacy for better representation in research and clinical trials.
Through her platform Warrior Megsie, Megan-Claire uses storytelling, humor, and radical honesty to amplify survivor voices — especially those in minoritized communities.
She was recently selected as an ASCO Voice, speaking at one of the largest oncology conferences in the world about why representation in clinical trials matters.
Her mission is simple but powerful:
Every story matters.
